About the Role
Remote (anywhere in United States)(United States)
The Company is in search of a Chief Risk Officer to spearhead the risk, actuarial, and reinsurance strategy for its new third-party hybrid fronting carrier. The successful candidate will be responsible for pricing risk, protecting the balance sheet, and governing counterparty credit exposure. This pivotal role demands a seasoned risk executive with a strong background in reinsurance, actuarial, and enterprise risk, as well as a proven track record in counterparty and collateral oversight. The Chief Risk Officer will be tasked with drafting the company's risk appetite statement, building and owning the enterprise risk management framework, leading the actuarial function, and setting the reinsurance strategy. Additionally, the role involves independent approval of reinsurers and collateral providers, owning the third-party credit risk policy, and leading various risk and capital committees. Applicants for the Chief Risk Officer position at the company should possess a minimum of 15 years' experience in P&C actuarial, reinsurance, or enterprise risk, with a strong preference for those holding an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. The role requires direct experience in structuring and negotiating reinsurance treaties, as well as demonstrated expertise in counterparty credit and collateral risk management. The ideal candidate will have a background in leading an ERM framework and ORSA, with a focus on board-level risk reporting. While not mandatory, additional qualifications such as FCAS, CPCU, CERA, or FRM, and experience with captive, ILS, or other collateralized reinsurance capacity, are considered advantageous. The company values individuals with a strong moral compass, customer-first empathy, intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, and a solution-oriented outlook. Transparent communication and a team-first energy are also key attributes that the company seeks in its Chief Risk Officer.
