Fractional Chief Operating Officer (COO), Personal Injury Firm
About the Role
Remote (anywhere in United States) (Headquarter location)(United States)
The Company is seeking a Fractional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to spearhead a six-month operational improvement initiative. The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's ownership, legal leadership, and HR/Talent Management to enhance the firm's daily operations. This hands-on, project-based role is focused on developing and standardizing legal and operational workflows, particularly within the personal injury case lifecycle. The COO will be responsible for creating clear, practical standard operating procedures, establishing a pod structure with defined metrics and accountability, and coaching the leadership team to ensure consistent operational practices. The ultimate goal is to build a sustainable operational system that does not rely on the firm's ownership for management and is designed to make the firm easier to run. Applicants must have a proven track record of directly implementing operational improvements within personal injury law firms. This includes experience in process development, KPI implementation, and leadership coaching. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the personal injury case lifecycle, experience in structuring and managing legal pods, and the ability to work with legal case management systems. The ideal candidate will have a history of independent project leadership, be adept at simplifying complex operations, and be prepared to provide specific examples of past project results. The COO will be evaluated based on the successful adoption of the developed workflows, the implementation of pod-level accountability measures, and the firm's ability to sustain the improvements independently.
